Cookie Policy

Effective:  ·  Last updated:  ·  Leer en español

This policy explains what cookies are, which cookies FINEST uses, and why we do not display a consent banner. Structured per the AEPD (Spanish Data Protection Authority) cookie guidelines (November 2023).

1. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser when you visit it. Cookies can be session-based (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent (stored for a set period). Some cookies are strictly necessary for the site to function; others require prior user consent.

The AEPD identifies four main cookie categories: technical (strictly necessary), preferences, analytics and advertising. Below we explain FINEST's use of each category.

2. Technical cookies (exempt from consent)

Technical cookies are strictly necessary for navigation and the correct operation of the website. The AEPD and the ePrivacy Directive (Art. 5.3) exempt strictly necessary cookies from the consent requirement.

Name Provider Purpose Duration Type
finest_admin_session FINEST (Certus SPV SLU) Session cookie for authenticated administrators. Only present on devices with an active admin session. Session HTTP, HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Strict

Note: The language preference (finest_lang) is stored in browser localStorage, not as an HTTP cookie, and is therefore not subject to cookie regulations. It is not transmitted to any server.

3. Preference cookies (require consent)

Preference cookies allow the site to remember choices you make to customise your experience, such as your language.

FINEST does not currently set any preference cookies. Language and interface preferences are stored in browser localStorage, which is not a cookie and does not require prior consent. This policy will be updated if persistent preference cookies are introduced in the future.

4. Analytics cookies (require consent — exception applies)

Analytics cookies enable visitor counts and user behaviour analysis to improve the website. They generally require prior consent.

However, FINEST does not set any analytics cookies. We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-first analytics tool hosted on our own infrastructure (plausible.abemon.es), which operates in a completely cookieless manner. Plausible:

  • Sets no cookies in your browser.
  • Does not fingerprint your device or browser.
  • Does not collect personally identifiable data.
  • Does not transmit information to third parties.
  • Discards your IP address after geolocation — it is not stored.

Per AEPD cookie guide §3.1.2 (November 2023), audience measurement systems that install no cookies and collect no personal data are exempt from the information and consent requirements of the first and second layers. This is why FINEST does not display a cookie consent banner for analytics.

The data Plausible records per page view: page URL, referrer, browser name (not version), device type and country code. All data is aggregated and cannot identify an individual user.

5. Advertising cookies

FINEST does not use advertising cookies of any kind. We do not embed third-party tracking scripts, behavioural ad networks, social media pixels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter) or retargeting technology.

6. Summary: cookie map

Category Active cookies Consent required Banner required
Technical / necessary finest_admin_session (admins only) No No
Preferences None (preferences in localStorage) N/A No
Analytics None (Plausible is cookieless) No — AEPD §3.1.2 exception No
Advertising None N/A No

7. How to manage and delete cookies

Although FINEST does not install cookies requiring consent, you can manage technical cookies and clear browser local storage via your browser settings:

  • Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data → See all cookies and site data.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Options → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data.
  • Safari (macOS/iOS): Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → See all cookies and site data.

Clearing technical cookies will not affect the public functionality of the site. If you are an administrator and clear your session cookie, you will need to log in again.

8. Changes to this policy

If we introduce cookies requiring consent in the future, we will implement the first and second layer information required by the AEPD and notify newsletter subscribers at least 15 days in advance.
